Your go-to reference library for jazz guitar chords, scales, arpeggios, triads, and technique. Find the resource you need, bring it into a tune, and get back to making music.
You do not need to finish everything. Start with a tune, a skill, or a question - and explore from there.
Your music. Your starting point.
You don't have to tackle the whole library. Pick the goal that sounds most like you, start with the suggested courses, and let the music guide your next step.
I love the sound of jazz, but I need help with the chords, rhythm, and first steps toward improvising.
Beginner Jazz Guitar + Beginner Guitar Essentials
Build basic chord and soloing skills, then put them into a tune like Autumn Leaves.
I know a few scales and licks, but I want my solos to sound like melodies that follow the changes.
Beginner Jazz Guitar + ii-V-I Essentials
Work on phrasing, chord tones, passing notes, and soloing over the progressions you hear in jazz.
I want to build a repertoire, remember the changes, and feel more comfortable playing complete tunes.
Jazz Standards Volumes 1-4
Choose a tune you love, then work through its study materials. Come back to the skill courses whenever you need them.
I want richer chord sounds, better rhythm, and the ability to make a tune sound complete on one guitar.
Beginner Jazz Guitar + Intermediate Jazz Guitar
Explore comping, drop 2 chords, chord melody, and solo guitar studies.
I have a foundation already. Now I want to expand my harmony, bebop vocabulary, solo guitar playing, and musical choices.
Advanced Jazz Guitar + Intermediate Jazz Guitar
Explore substitutions, walking basslines, jazz transcriptions, bebop patterns, and artist studies. Use the Jazz Guitar Toolkit as your reference along the way.
Pick a focused session from 15 Minute Guitar Workouts. Consistent, enjoyable practice matters more than trying to study everything at once.
Meet your teacher
I believe the best way to learn jazz guitar is to connect what you're practicing to the music you actually want to play.
I'm Matt Warnock, a professional jazz guitarist, university music educator, and the founder of Matt Warnock Guitar.
I've spent years teaching guitarists with different backgrounds, goals, and levels of experience. One thing comes up again and again: it's easy to learn another scale, chord shape, or lick. The exciting part is learning to use those ideas in an actual tune.
That's why my lessons are built around practical playing. We'll work on the skills you need, then connect them to comping, improvising, chord melody, and jazz standards. You can take your time, revisit a topic, and choose what serves your music.
You don't need to know every scale or master every chord before you can enjoy playing jazz. You need a place to start, musical things to work on, and the freedom to keep exploring.
Keep growing,

Good questions. Clear answers.
Buying a complete learning library is a big decision. Here are a few things you might want to know before you get started.
Yes. Start with Beginner Jazz Guitar if you already know some guitar basics, or use Beginner Guitar Essentials and Guitar Essential Skills to build those fundamentals first. You can take your time and move forward when you feel ready.
There is plenty to explore beyond the basics: Intermediate and Advanced Jazz Guitar, bebop ideas, chord melody, walking basslines, improvisation concepts, and four volumes of jazz standards. You can go straight to the subjects that interest you.
Not at all. This is a library, not a race to finish thousands of lessons. Pick a course, tune, or specific skill you want to develop, and work from there. The Find Your Starting Point section above can help you choose.
You get access to the 14 courses listed on this page, plus the Jazz Guitar Toolkit. The courses cover guitar fundamentals, jazz chords, improvisation, comping, standards, blues, bossa nova, and focused practice workouts. The Toolkit is a reference library for chords, scales, arpeggios, triads, and more.
No. You can move through the courses at a pace that fits your life, and the 15 Minute Guitar Workouts course gives you short, focused ways to use a smaller practice window. Steady practice matters more than trying to do everything at once.
Real tunes are central to this collection. Four Jazz Standards volumes include studies of tunes such as Autumn Leaves, Blue Bossa, Misty, Stella by Starlight, and All the Things You Are. Other courses show how harmony, rhythm, and improvisation fit into playing music.
No. This is a self-paced course bundle, not an MWG Studio membership. It does not include live workshops, jam sessions, community access, one-to-one coaching, or personal playing feedback. The lessons and Toolkit are the products included.
The listed price is a one-time payment of $599 USD, not a recurring membership charge. Please check the purchase terms at checkout for the applicable access, refund, and support details before ordering.
